Hey, Digiscopers! Get your game on.
You have one week left — until Monday, September 30 — to submit your entry for the 2013 Digiscoper of the Year award sponsored by SWAROVSKI OPTIK. Any image (still or video) of a wild creature that was captured with a digital camera and a spotting scope is eligible. Birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, even insects — the sky is the limit, and the key is seeing nature in all its beauty through your lens
You could win some fantastic prizes.
- For the first place winner, a complete set of digiscoping equipment (ATX or STX eyepiece module, 25-60×85 objective module, digiscoping adapter, spotting scope rail, CT 101 tripod, and a DH 101 tripod head.)
- For each of the other three category winners, a pair of SWAROVSKI OPTIK EL 32 binoculars.
- For each photo or video published on the Digiscoper of the Year website (a total of fifteen photographs and five videos,) a publication fee of 300 euros — to say nothing of the glory!
There are four categories to choose from: Behavior & Action, Portrait, Mammal, and Video. Each category is judged by a jury of experts — one of whom is last year’s winner Tara Tanaka. Her portrait of a Cattle Egret captured the serene grace and subtle hues of this common but remarkable species, and now she is bringing that artist’s eye to selecting the next winner.
So flip through your galleries or go out and get that shot of a lifetime, then submit by September 30. Winners will be announced in December 2013.
