Susan Myers is a senior tour leader with Wings, one of the oldest and best regarded bird tour companies in the world. She is one of only a handful of women in the business and is regarded as an expert on Asian birds in particular, having led tours in the region for almost fifteen years. She’s now been to almost every country in Asia although she says she’s in no hurry to get to North Korea and perhaps Pakistan and Bangladesh can wait…. The author of the highly regarded Field Guide to the Birds of Borneo, she naturally counts Borneo amongst her favorite destinations as well as Vietnam, Indonesia and Sri Lanka. That said, she loves every place she goes. Although Australia is her homeland, in the past she has lived in Japan for many years and is fluent in Japanese. Birds aren’t her only interest – she has an inquiring mind and a keen interest in photography, Asian food, history, culture, politics and any aspect of natural history you care to mention, although her knowledge of botany is not as extensive as she sometimes pretends…
